The Messina-Catania project, with a value of approximately EUR 2.3 billion, is being implemented by the Messina-Catania Consortium, consisting of Webuild (leading contractor) and Pizzarotti, with the collaboration of companies such as Euromecc and CP Technology
Technical Features
Brief summary of the project in numbers:
- 4 production halls realized by Euromecc for different production areas,
- Daily production of 168 segments, with a total of 224 350 segments to be produced in less than 48 months,
- Each segment contains 2.7 m3 of concrete and weighs 6.5 tonnes, produced in 7 minutes,
- Plant with two planetary mixers of 2 m3 each,
- Aggregate feeding system consists of two 25 m3 hoppers each,
- Aggregate storage unit with a capacity of more than 300 m3, divided into 6 grain sizes,
- 6 independent weighing hoppers, each with 4 load cells,
- Two binder silos of 90 m3 each for each mixer and a shared silica fume silo,
- 100% of wash water recovered and reused via a recycling system.
